Peace is a state of consciousness and mind that is free of internal conflict (s) within an individual as well as collectively within, and consequently among, groups of individuals known as families, nations, religions or ethnic units and such other terms,

 

And that;

Education for ethical conduct and peace in a planet-wide system will consist of:

1. Imprinting the minds so that they hold a holistic view of all human experience (memory , histories, traditions), thought and belief systems as constituents of a single whole;
2. Facilitating all imprinting that leads to freedom from conflict within an individual mind, and consequently among social, ethic, religious, national or any other groupings.
   

Be It resolved that all organs of the United Nations, as well as all states and political entities, enter into an international ‘Covenant for Education and Parenting for Ethical Conduct and Peace’ wherein, among other supporting steps to be drafted, the following primary objectives be stated:

 
1.

That the condemnation of any religion or ethnic entity be considered a violation of human rights;

2.

That display of ‘violence for entertainment’ be declared a crime against humanity;

3.

That human history, in accordance with a new philosophy of history, be taught as a history of peace in which violent conflict is presented as an aberration and a violation of the natural human urge for peace and harmony;

4.

That popular as well as academic works, comics or story books, whether in printed or electronic form, be made available to the populations worldwide, and in their own languages, depicting the:

  a. Positive and peaceful elements of various religions and ethnic cultures;
  b. Life stories of saints and the saintly, the noble spiritual guides, leaders in peace, and founders and high proponents of altruistic, ethical and philosophical systems based on the values of self-sacrificing love and harmony;
5. That the education systems tech widely, from preschool level to advanced studies, the history, philosophy and practical steps of non-aggressive conflict resolutions in internal, interpersonal and inter-group (inter-religious, inter-state, inter-ethnic) situations;
6. That concrete proposals be developed within reasonable time period where by the economic commercial, educational and professional structures, work organisation and work ethic provide ample opportunities to parents worldwide to enable them to pass on the values of love, harmony, peace and other ethical values in daily conduct to children by rendering their minds psychologically and spiritually conflict free so as to preclude the possibilities of leaders and populace of future generations inflicting the collective neurosis and aberration of war on fellow human beings.
 

Be it further resolved that as support and parallel to the endeavours required to achieve the above objectives:

 

The entire global community be given the opportunity to benefit from the wide spectrum of experience of numerous education systems that have prevailed in many traditions worldwide, and for that end a conclave of:

  a.

Representatives of different types of education systems and;

  b.

The departments of Peace Studies in academic institutions be invited, preferably through UNESCO, the UN University campuses and leading interfaith organisations, with the purpose of developing

    I.

a theory of education and parenting for ethical conduct and peace, drawing upon the millennia-old experience of the traditions of peace education and assimilating into a comprehensive scheme their most positive and agreeable points;

    II.

a worldwide plan for a system of education for ethical conduct and peace;

    III.

the practical steps for establishing such a system including the curricula of ‘education for the ethical and peaceful mind’.
